    Default Looking for potential clients.

    Hi people,

I have been on this beautiful platform for one month now. I tried my luck commenting on various posts in the quest to get a client but what muddles me most is how to get a potential client who pays well. Every now and then I get clients who pay not more than $3 for 500 words, which is too less. This question always surrounds me whenever I come on this forum. I have six years of experience as a content writer but recently i joined this forum. Can anyone help me out?

    Regards

I have had clients who pay well from WarriorForum in the past, but most of my steady work comes from freelance sites like Odesk. I haven't had any clients from BHW though, I don't think this is all that common of a hangout for high paying clients who need content, here they are looking for more "outsourced" stuff that they can buy for cheap.

@Rob I tried my luck on odesk. There too i had to cut a sorry figure, as the clients paid miserably, as if writers are their slaves. I recall one incident, wherein I wrote a sample article for a client on odesk, going by his commitment that he will pay $1 per 100, finally he paid $3 for a 500 word sample. I don't want to quit and i have been trying all way out but things are not materializing.

I also write for odesk. They are the safest freelancing site I have known because there is a contract and most clients really pays but they pay too low to be a source of steady income. The work is not also stable even if you have more than 2 clients.

You should try to get into writing sales copy. If you are good in that you can charge far more then $100 per sales letter.

Yes there you go. I agree with you that there are projects on odesk but they pay really low and i have had bitter experiences in the past. After working on several low paying projects I am fed up because I feel my efforts are going in vain. So, now i am just looking for potential clients, who can afford paying what I deserve.

Thanks. This seems to be a good deal . But then again potential clients come into play. I still ponder what can writers do in order to make clients value their efforts. What is your say on this?

Did not get your point. Can you please elaborate what you meant? I am looking for potential clients who pay at least $1 per 100 words and a client paying $3 per 500 words is not a good paying client. What is your say on this?
