I am a Article writing noob and I was wondering if you guys could help me out by answering 2 questions for me. Do you get paid for submitting articles that are not from the assignment desk? I mean writing my own content. And how long does it take for AC to approve an article?

Yes, you do can get paid for your article that isn't for the assignment desk but that depends on whether AC needs/wants it. The assignment desk is simply suggestion type articles in case a writer gets writer's block/brain freeze.

The wait time depends. Sometimes it is super fast (like a day or two) other times it is super slow (10 +/- days).

yes, about $2.00 or so. they used to take everything but now theyve gotten picky. theyll give you a "beat" if you do good work, most "beats" pay $15.00 for 400 words and you get to write about the "genre" you prefer; so try to write about stuff you like even if they don't buy it. Because you can get a good beat after 5-6 good articles, hire someone to bookmark them.
