I just read this 2 minutes ago and you beat me.

I can't wait and see how this turns out. With my method of free articles I can't wait!

Increased views so that means more traffic and more money from impressions and Yahoo might up the value of the money you make from it as well!

Let us see how this will play out (I have a strange feeling about all this). Hopefully things changes for the better over there (keeping my fingers crossed).

    Edit to add:

The bad feeling from all this is that this announcement came right after AC said they were no longer paying international writers because of US tax laws. However, sites like Examiner pays international writers despite US tax laws. I think there is more to it than AC is letting on and feel that the payment setup AC currently have will probably not leak over to Yahoo (or if it will leak over it is only to make sure the current writers remain and submit articles before changes are made).

Acquisitions never goes smoothly for the bottom barrel feeders. The writers will get screwed one way or another. The question is Just how bad will it be?

The good or bad news depends on if the existing management is changed and replaced by a better one. BTW, a company like Yahoo will not tolerate the loudmouthguys and the oversmartmoms on the forums... hopefully. Let the big Y! clear the stink and bring in some real fresh air so everyone can breath better there.

AKA: Bye bye money from AC. If your business model relied on AC to make money from, i suggest you look for something else. ( for those thinking they are going to make more cash because of this)

Y! gets a ready made publisher platform, with 380,000 low-paid good quality writers, and unique and well-placed articles in all niches, possibly world's biggest such platform with US-dominance to display their advertisements... what more they can ask for... and at a small price to pay considering the cost of creating, developing, maintaining,, etc etc. such a huge platform. Y! has to money to buy, AC has the will to get sold.

Now Y! can develop it further to their own liking. I have heard that already the existing established writers are scared about their future (have read somewhere that Y! will be doing a complete overhaul though on paper they are denying that.)

AC writers: Start learning about what Y! needs. Look at their website and marketplace first, study it, and know what's selling there. I think the days of writing bluff about balls and whistles are over and the Y! market and advertisers will rule the once money-maker for good-for-nothing-else people. Put on your marketer hat and write what Y! needs. That's survival for you...

There is also a talk that Y! will open AC for international writers... I don't know exactly, but that's believable! Y! needs a chunk of world markets to stand up to the G dominance.

And I don't think they will kill the goose that lays golden eggs... why they would kill the well-established niches and related articles? By closing down AC, they could be meaning that only the good and better than good writers will be able to make a better-living there with better project (a.k.a. suited to Y! markets) and better payments... others can visit the multiple job sites from now on.

NEWS is one of Y! strong points, and so is their market place. They will further build the online readership to sell their Ads, so they need the existing set up but with a new refined and focused look. Look at this:

    Code:
    http://everything.yahoo.com/
Study it. The knowledge will come handy beginning the third quarter of 2010.

Yeah, they'll probably just move everything to a Yahoo domain.

i don't think they'd do that. anybody would 1/2 a brain knows that ass content isn't really news. with the level of plagiarism that goes on w/AC merging the content w/yahoo news would be too risky.

not only that, but i think Y! bought AC to extend they're contextual network. AC gets a lot of traffic from Google....so, it'd be smart for Y! to leave AC right where it is and benefit from the existing traffic. i think Y!'s gonna make AC another social media outlet like yahoo answers...idk...that's what I'd do.

i suspect upfront payments are going to drop significantly. i also think that they're going to accept international contributions because Y! is an international company.

About that, According to AC's forum mod:
Hey all,Sorry that I've been slow to respond here. I've been travelling, and it's been a crazy couple of days.
I want to be very clear that the last line of the Associated Press story that Yahoo News and others automatically picked up is completely false.
Yahoo will be "closing the deal" in the near future (perhaps that's where this mistake in reporting occured?), but it is absolutely not closing Associated Content.
All the info contained in the FAQ is 100% valid. AC is sticking around, as is the AC team, and this is only going to increase the number of assignments and featuring opportunities we can provide.
This has been confirmed by AC and Yahoo. I will see if we can get a line about it added to the FAQ.

But---anybody remember Overture? They used to have their own site too. Hopefully AC is telling the truth, not just lying to hold their stable of writers for a few more months. Yeah, Yahoo may be confirming they didn't mean what they plainly said (probably after AC told them it was a PR disaster), but they can always announce "we've changed our minds" later after the third quarter, and close AC anyway while saying they didn't lie. Keep yourselves flexible, folks, and if you haven't already tried out other good paying writing sites, do so now, so you have a place to go if/when the Y! hammer (and curtain) comes down on AC.
