I am a little confused regarding news items …

I just wrote an article about launch of the droid eris… I cited my sources as Reuters AC and a blog… because they do not accept news items talked about didn't other media outlets. I don't understand how we're supposed to write about news that isn't being discussed somewhere else.

I didn't copy the news item and it was an original article…

I decided to write about the DROID because it was a new news and I thought that it would bring in a lot of views.

What is a suitable news type item that I can write about that will be accepted by AC? If I can write about what's in the news than what can I read about… If that makes sense
