    Default Cloaking Affiliate Links

    Hi Guys
    Noob and thicko here !
Just joined an affiliate program where the affiliate link is just a number following on from the main webpage i.e main webpage is sexygirls with the www's and the dot com, So the website is sexygirls/12345 with the 12345 being my affiliate number.
Question:- When I am promoting this program how can I create/ cloak a link just named sexygirls but which actually takes them to MY affiliate page ending in 12345?
So they think they are going to the main site, but are really being directed to my affiliate page.
    Answers appreciated.
    cheers all
    John

Why don't you try dot.tk, Your url will be www, sexygirls.tk but it takes your visitor to your affiliate link and the url in the browser will still www,sexygirls.tk. Before you do that, make sure you read The TOS of your affiliate program's. Do they allow link cloaking?

    Wink Re: Cloaking Affiliate Links

Try setting up a url with godaddy, a dot info one will cost just over a dollar.

pick a url similar to that of your affilliate link.

after you have done that, inside the domain names control panel choose "enable forwarding" and type in your affilate link, click "301 moved permanent" and save.

next, click on "masking"-then enable masking, and enter the meta details that are relevant to your product/url.

    Done And Dusted.

When someone clicks on your link they will only see your url in the browser--no hoplink--no probs.

I hope this helps you out pal.

Do not enable masking... I have seen people enable masking with the affiliate program he is talking about and miss out on sales... the affiliate program is invite only... so there is no need to even try and hide the affiliate ID... understandably a nice url is easier to tell others and promote with... but it should be left to re-direct without masking
