Clickbank vs CJ vs Amazon vs Other

Hey guys, seeing as I'm new to affiliate marketing, I am hoping some of the pros that have been around the block, and tried several affiliate methods can offer some guidance.

I have been pretty sold so far on Amazon affiliate marketing, as it appears that the goal is to drive traffic, enjoy the fact you get a 24 hour cookie on a highly shopped site and make a commission.

In comparison to these other affiliates that I have not yet investigated as thoroughly, am I right that Clickbank or CJ is going to require a much more targeted and specific action than what your requirements are with Amazon to get a commission?

It sounds like with Amazon, you just have to get them to the Amazon site and you're golden. With these others, you have to find the right traffic targeting your specific program and then hope they do "X" to get a commission.

Is that about right? Or am I just stamping "NOOB" across my forehead right now for all to see? lol

It doesn't matter what affiliate program you're using , the more important thing is the traffic you're getting and does the product you're promoting is converting or not .
If you're getting US traffic Amazon will convert the best for sure , but just an advice for amazon , treat EVERY product you're promoting like its the main one , means don't start those kind of sites with thousands of products on them , try to find keywords getting good searches/month then concentrate to rank them .

Some products will get you 10k+/sale lol but don't expect to sell them

For CJ it will be the same , treat every store as a keyword or even better treat every product in that store as main keywords to make your website more specific and to make it easier for you to rank for.

Haven't tried them yet , got those research a while ago but never implement them , to get an approximation of converting products you can take a look at those reviews + i don't think those products with 50k+ will convert well online maybe they do if you have a list of clients that you can get them a rebate or something but those just my thoughts as i already said i never promoted those high priced products...

I have been waiting on my sites getting some more traffic before applying to Amazon, and I know CJ and CB have accepted my 0 traffic sites so they appear easier to start with if that helps you at all, OP.

The most important thing is to start now.

Unless you've tested your keyword traffic with PPC, chances are you may get them wrong. At that time, you can try offering products from another affiliate network.

Starting with Amazon is usually easy because they have millions of products. With other networks, unless you have a good site, they may not approve your application. Sometimes the auto approve merchants are not the best. But again, my rule is to start anyway.

When you have steady streams targeted traffic, you have more negotiation power.
