here is a share that might help- at least I hope. It is aimed at noobs. I learned this based on promoting some stuff I am working on and I am posting in this section based on how and what I am promoting. The only thing it has to do with making money is helping me leave a smaller or different foot print. I am still adding to it. and testing the water to see if this helps. So here you go.

SO you have a need to have two different browser profiles from the same desktop. Two you can even open at the same time. maybe one is for play and yet another (to keep focused) is for work…or what ever else comes to mind


I have windows XP. And I use Firefox as my browser. I will start there so you know what I have, full well knowing there are many options, so some of you may not need to read any further. I will also stress I am new to this so there may be other ways to do what I am about to share.

I found a number of sites covering this, however in following the directions I found that some just did not work the way they were supposed to. The set up below is what it took for me to get it working the way I wanted it to. the problems I had getting this working is what made me want to share.


So I want to use two different Firefox browsers at the same time that can be set up with different plug-ins, bookmarks and extensions. So here is what I did….

First I copied the Firefox icon and pasted it on my desktop. Now I have two icons that are identical on my desktop.

Next; right click the copied icon and open up properties. From there, click on the general tab and give that icon a different name. (Like “Black hat”) then close the window now. Now Right click the original icon, go to general tab and rename that (like “my_name” ) and then close that window for now.

Here we go- click start, and then run. In the run box type CMD. This opens the command box. You are likely to see:
C:\Documents and settings\username>

From this point type “cd ..” (cd space bar ..) And hit enter. That will take away the username. Put that same thing in again (cd ..) this will remove “Documents and Settings” now the last line should read
C:\>

From this point, after C:\> you then type-
“C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe” –profilemanager -no-remote
So the line should look like
C:\> "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -profilemanager -no-remote
Now hit enter.

You should see a window pop up that says:
“Firefox – Choose User Profile” at the top.

At this point you are done with your command line (or box), hit x and close it.

There is likely the user of “default” highlighted in blue. Click “Rename Profile…” and name it something like “your_name.default” and click OK. (Any spaces in the name should be represented by an underscore.) Remember, we are working with your original profile at this point, not the copy.

Then Click “Create Profile”--- from there a “Wizard” window pops up- Click next.

The next window pops up, and in the profile name type something like “Black_hat.user” (Other being whatever name you want ending in .user) then click Finish.

Now you should be back to the profile page, and you should see two users. One ending in .default (with all the plug-in you had to start) and one ending in .user (firefox with nothing- just like the day you first installed it). Now make sure the box is checked that says “Don’t ask at startup” and exit that window.

Almost done. From there, go to your main icon- The one I suggested to name something like “my_name” and right click it, then go to properties. (Any spaces in your name should be represented by an underscore.)

In the “shortcut” tab go down to the “target’ line. Click at the end of what is already there so you can see you cursor. Make sure the line is not highlighted, and add; -p- Your_name.default-no-remote . So the line should look like this.
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -p- your_name.default-no-remote
Then click “Apply”. And now “OK”

Next right click your second icon and hit properties, again under the “shortcut” tab in the target line, click at the end so you can see your cursor. Make sure the line is not highlighted and add; -p Black_hat.user –no-remote . So the line should look like this. "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -p Black_hat.user -no-remote
Click “Apply”. And then “OK”.

Now you should be able to click each icon, and two browsers will open. One with all your plug-is/bookmarks etc. and one that looks like Firefox did the first day you installed it. Now with the “Black_hat” Firefox you can add what you need-plug-ins/ bookmarks etc.

In affiliate programs?

this was learned based on promoting some affiliate programs, the need came up. for me it related, and I was trying to share. still testing.

Don't wanna sound rude, but I think the lounge would be more appropriate for that .
