Default I made $170K for advertisers last year. Is it time to start my own products?

I generated over $170K for advertisers last year as an affiliate. I didn't even see half that money. Is it time for me to create my own products? Willing to share methods if you have something valuable to bring to the table.

Why not? if you have something that people would buy. You can't go wrong by selling your own product.

You can sell any product it doesn't have to be your own, the margin would be bigger if you have your own product.

So the success of any online business is traffic
    Google Chrome is spyware

I think you have mastered the affiliate facet of IM; move to the vendor side.

5 figures the point is I made $170K for the advertisers. If I had my own product with my marketing experience. I might have been able to put $100K in my own pockets.

Yes.. I think your right. That is my plan. I'm looking into either a clickbank product or even becoming a CPA merchant. I know there is alot of ebooks out there, and I want to learn alot without losing too much money.

With success comes alot of problem. Not sure if I want the problems of having my own product just yet. (Dealing with customer support, Fraud, Charge Backs Ect). There are so many ways to make bank online. Product creation is just one. I really what to tap into facebook fanpages there seems to be alot of potential over there.

well really depends. what kind of product/service etc. did you promote... if you can think of a own product to sell in the niche you were successful than i would definitely go for it.
own product of course as you mentioned has more to it than just collecting the cash but thats why you can make more profit. good luck def great if you find a nice product and can work for yourself.

It's up to you. THere are people that make millions, and don't have their own product. They dont' have to worry about customer support, complaints, returns, more legal issues, etc.

I think you should find distributor to get cheap prices and then sell it, in your own website some peoples using that method to get big money of course not many peoples but usually when you have better offer usually peoples will buy stuff from you , and distributor will give you nice price because of helphing theirs sales and sometimes being vendor no need to spend big money just buy Ltd license or etc

Yeah I get ye now... well if that is $170k from only a couple of products then make them but if that's over say 20+ products then no.

I'm big into fan pages myself, just posted this up a few mins ago -

Yeah it's spread over a few products, not really one specific niche so I realistically don't think I can just come in, and compete with the big advertisers.

    reasons yes:
    - more profit per sale
    - longer term more leverage (ie get other affiliates to promote your stuff)
    - you likely have the cash flow to finance it in the short term
    - chance to "build an asset / brand" that has further value down the road

    reasons no:
    - making a product is a whole different task, managed a whole different way, and involves another huge learning curve etc
    - sometimes with the same time effort you could get even more profit doing more of what you're currently doing, or getting more $$ out of each customer that comes through your projects already

The best way of getting affiliates on board is to make sure your sales copy converts well with a refund rate that is not ridiculous.

Congrats! its a possibility to consider but try to look at it from all angles, i have had my own CPA offers and physical products and its no walk in the park. If you do something click bank related then yea things are easier but you still need to put the time to develop a quality product to avoid returns, set up customer service etc etc if you with anything physical then you need to set up merchant accounts, fraud prevention tools, CRM's for customer interaction plus billing CRM's, Fulfillment, Customer Service, Call Centers, Chargebacks the list goes on.

So if you have the time and the motivation to do it, its worth while but promoting affiliate products does make things much much easier!

    good luck.

Once you develop the skills to make the money you are making, it only makes sense to start building and selling your own products. Why not create your own CPA offer? Find an advertiser and start promoting direct?

If you are actually serious about asking this question, you did not really make 170k last year.

Well he did not make 170k for himself but for the advertiser. maybe he only got comission of 5-20% from those sales and only made max 34k$

I understood that. But if someone is really dumb enough to say

"Wow, I made 170k for someone else last year, but only got a small percentage of that."

You would think that person would be smart enough to go

"Maybe I should make my own product"

R&D costs time and money and there is always a question if people will buy and accept your own product. I think it's way easier to sell stuff than to produce. After all, being guided by greed is false motivation for producers imho as you forget about liabilities.

$170K/year with affiliate is not much. That will most likely bring you a $6K-$8K/year income.
If you can get you own products, you may generate half of that number as income by asking twice the price you paid for those products, and that's $85K.
    Go for it.

First Off Congrats on Generating 170k$ thats awesome but yes owning your own product is great but like others have said its no walk in the park if becoming and advertiser in the CPA industry is a little diff than becoming an advertiser on clickbank/info marketing industry but then again it depends if its physical etc with all the knowledge on here you will do well, but to answer the Q YES you should at least start to ''mind-map'' some ideas in Product Creation Good Luck man!

That's the plan right now I have consistent income, and I am looking to add my offer to a few affiliate network. The whole point of this thread is too say there is more money to be made on the advertiser side than as an affiliate side. At the end of the day no matter how much we want to think we are self employed in IM. We are still out there busting our asses for advertisers. The best move is too think like an advertiser, and grab a bunch of affiliates.

Looks like you have the selling part down pretty good. Selling your own product or buy the rights to sell a product shouldn't be too hard. All you need is to find that product and you are on your way! Good luck.
