Best method to distribute a free app

With the Christmas shopping season nearly upon us I'd like to learn the best way to distribute a free, very useful, shopping app that allows me to attach my own affiliate ads which display when the app is being used. I've seen discussions on BHW on this topic, but for the life of me can't find them. Can someone please point me in the right direction? A thread talking about this or a good site that allows the distribution of free apps. thanks

Depends on the app. If its for a phone, then you're best off posting it in the marketplace for the respective platform.

If its a windows thing, then you can use bittorrent and post it to the major trackers. Traffic doesnt cost much, I can do ~4tb transfer a month for $12/m.
You can also post it to the file sharing sites then use xrumer/scraper to spam it everywhere (bad rep though)
Lastly, you can make a website and host it there.

I probably should have mentioned that the file is hosted by a company that I'm an affiliate for. I can only promote the link. The company provides a Back Office where I can customize the app to display the ads that want shown. I know this limits some of my methods of distribution.
