how much knowledge will these affiliate managers have?

im working to start a campaign with a very non-techy niche. lets call it quilt knitting. i wont be breaking any of their TOS, but i will be "bending" some of their rules. there are a few affiliates that i will be working with in this niche.
i was wondering what level of knowledge i should expect from these people?
are they business people, seo/internet savvy people, or quilt knitting people that have been given the job of affiliate manager?

Haha! . . . At first I thought you said the niche was "Quit Knitting", and I
thought, WOW! . . . They have a 12-Step Recovery Program for people
who are addicted to knitting!

But to get back to your question, different affiliate managers have
different levels of knowledge. It all depends. If they work for a highly
reputable affiliate network, then they are probably going to be very
savvy. On the other hand, if they work for lesser known network,
they mat not be as savvy. There are many variables.

when you say affiliate network...the companies are on the smaller side, the affiliate networks are in shareasale and commission junction which i believe to be highly reputable (are they?)

i always though affiliate manager was a duty assigned to someone that already worked for the 'knitting company'. it sounds like you are saying affiliate managers work for affiliate networks (commissions junction) and are assigned companies to manage. is this correct in this situation?
