There are a few sites I want to place my images ads on (thru display network), but I am unsure if they are ads by google. Is there a way to tell?

Hover your cursor over the ad. Don't click. The URL should show on most browsers. I use Firefox and it appears at the bottom of my screen whenever the cursor is over a link. If it says googleadservices.com or something similar (always has google in there as far as I know), it's an ad from an Adwords advertiser.

It is actually rather simple. On all ads on display network, there is a "Ads by Google" text which is easy to find. This cannot be undone by any publisher so you can easily know if the ads are by Google or any other advertizing network.

Oops, I forgot to mention that "Ads by Google" had been replaced with "Ad Choices" a few months back - so that's the text you should be looking for now as @bcoop mentioned in the post below.

Where are those ads from?

This is also google ads, doubleclick (by google...) is the ad management and ad serving technology of google
