Why am I getting traffic from AdWords? No account??
I don't have a adWords account but seem to be getting traffic from it from the last few days. Any ideas why?

If you're getting traffic from a source where you haven't advertised or dropped any links, it might be because: 1) for whatever reason, someone is promoting your site; or 2) someone is doing referrer spamming to make you think that you're getting traffic from a source that you're really not. Since it's from AdWords, I'm not sure why anyone but Google would bother spamming an AdWords URL. I'm not sure why Google would bother with it, either, as there was an uproar in the webmaster community when Live Search was doing referrer spamming.

Agree with point 1 in post above. As for point 2, I don't know what referrer spamming is or what the point of that would be. You can be sure it's not Google doing it.
My question is, what makes you think it's from Adwords? I can't recall the exact domain they use and I think they use more than one but yeah, it's pretty obvious usually what it is.

Well part of the link is googleads.g.doubleclick DOT net
I'm not sure how I can trace it back to the source but if I could do that then I'd be able to see what ads it was from. I'm not complaining just confused.

That certainly is an Adwords referrer.
Two possibilities I can think of what's happening:
1. Someone using Adwords with a site name similar to yours and they mistyped. IE: typed dot com when they are dot net or dot co dot uk
Weird I know. I never type the URL but copy and paste. It could be a manager on behalf of whoever has the similar domain and he's the one who's confused, which makes more sense than the actual owner.
2. There was an idiotic recommendation a few years back something about using your competitor's URL in ads just to see their QS. The idea was then to change to your own URL and your QS would be preserved, not necessarily true of course. However, you say you don't use Adwords.
You can't track back to the source, which I assume you mean the advertiser.
I wouldn't worry about your Adsense account. I don't believe it can get banned for doing this. Call Google just the same.

Re: Why am I getting traffic from AdWords? No account??
How much traffic are we talking about here? And when did you pause your AdWords campaign? AdWords has a 30 day cookie period, so if you pause the campaign last month, people who first visited your AdWords campaign during that period could come back today and still be labelled as AdWords traffic.

try finding out who the publisher is by their pub-id:
Code:
hxxp://g00gleads.g.d0ubleclick.net/pagead/ads?client=ca-pub-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
The "pub-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX" part is their publisher id.
There are a few sites out there that will give you this info. try reverseinternet.com/adsense
Should give you a few of the pub's other sites which you can look into, whois, etc.
