Top Search Question

I'm a little confused.

When I'm doing adwords, my listing only shows on the side (obviously)however, how do I get on the top 1-2 spots that are in the gray/purplish color?

example:
-> google
-> search term: max one
-> top results:

some amazon one

my[B]maxwholesale domain[/B]

So is this because they are spending like $50/ a click>? or what?

It depends both on your Quality Score, and the Bid. I suppose if for the given keyword there is no ad scoring high enough, they won't show a top ad at all.
