my CPC has gone done a large amount after the new year, for obvious reasons.
this makes my RPM's about 50% of what they used to be which totally blows.
just wondering how much yours went down?

i lost about 40% - 50%

what was your CPC before the holidays, and what is it now?
mine was around the 40 cent range, now its about 20 cents

It's very common for cpc to drop come January as advertisers have blown their budget over December. Last year I went from $10/day to $1/day, this year it's a couple hundred a day to about $40/day. Bigger drop than usually, but I would suspect it's really nothing to be too alarmed about.

My CPC is always dripping day by day, I can´t say an exact percentage but I started getting €1 clicks and now they are much lower

They seem to decrease month by month, I think my case is not for the holidays since it happens during all year..

if it happens for you all year, then it seems like advertisers are filtering your site out because they dont like your traffic.

makes sense. i am not taking that big of a hit because my traffic is always increasing, but it still sucks when i could be making double the money.
but yea, i dont think its something to get too worried about because it should pick back up in a month or 2.
also keep increasing traffic

Huge drop for me. My organic traffic has gone up a ton in the past 2 weeks, ctr has increased significantly with new ad placements and for the past 4 or 5 days revenue has gone down by over %60. Quite frustrating, although I agree it's probably due to the new year.

yes, it should start going up soon so we will be fine

My CPC went down over 50% too...soo bad...down to like 15c a click!!

It's a relief to know it's a pattern based on season. I was a bit worried my account was being smart priced or that I was being click bombed.

Can somebody answer to my questions please:
1) Is there any possible way to see how much is the CPC now besides google keyword tool? Google keyword still show that its 0.97$
2) Do I need to block some ads?

Oh man. Today is my worst day of earnings in the past full year. I have more traffic today than my site has ever had per day which is around 17,000 uniques, %95 organic traffic from the US. Still sitting under $10 for the day. I was making more than $10 a day when I was getting an average of 4000 to 5000 uniques per day. Really hope this doesn't keep going down.

there are other tools on the net where you can check cpc, although i dont remember the names of them.
anyways, they are probably around the same accuracy as google keyword tool so it probably wont help you much.
some of them might even fetch their data from google themselves and say that its fresh data haha.
maybe you can try to filter out some low paying ads, but waiting it out is most likely the best thing to do.
my cpc seems to be going up some already.

Yeah, around $0.60. Today it's at $0.56 and cpc has dropped to $0.08. Previously my cpc was anywhere from $0.20 to $0.45. Which is lowish, but my site is humor based so cpc is generally low, but never this low. I also use Lijit and have seen the same thing with their CPM, which has dropped almost %50.

just read on google adsense forum. its normal for jan month, and it should increase at the end of jan or start of feb. wait few more days.

yesterday i got pretty good CPC .48 -

just to compare - December 0.97 EURO
all January 0.31 EURO

today is again as low as 0.28EURO

I got a question about keywords with high CPCs , like if I build a blog around certain keywords with high CPCs to where all the content on my blog is about those keywords will I get ads shown with these high CPCs on average? Like says keywords with $10+ CPC ? I have never really messed with trying to get high CPC just focused on getting keywords with traffic.

most ads are interest based ads now.
but you still might get some high paying ads, but its not guaranteed.
choosing keywords in that way is risky.
