    Default Adsense Tax

    Hi,

I've recently set up some sites with a guy and we've put adsense on them. We're making a bit more than €50/month ($65/month). I think this is a quite nice income but now I have this question: Do I have to pay tax for this? I'm an 18 year old student and googled this but I can really seem to find the right answer. Also, I live in Belgium

I don't know how it is where you live, but in Australia when you hit a certain threshold (6.3k ish) then you have to start paying. You're not making enough for t3h tax agency to become concerned.

Do check though, for your own country.

    Tax laws vary massively...

Google the "income tax threshold" for your country so you know how much you can earn before paying tax. It's around 7k in the UK for example.

    e.g.

    http://www.taxrates.cc/html/belgium-tax-rates.html

...shows EUR 6430 as the zero-bracket.

In the US, Google is only required to report your earnings to the government if you surpass a certain amount ($600 here). If you wanted to try and cheat, you could probably omit Adsense earnings if you haven't been supplied tax documents by Google. The prudent thing would be to declare the income regardless of how much you make though.

Unless you have setup an LLC or other business entity, your earnings will be taxed at your personal income tax rate (unless Belgium handles this differently).
