Need rules made clear
Everywhere people say different things, and can never find the definite answer. And adsense rules are quite vague.
Here are a few things I would appreciate getting advise on (should be helpful for others too):
- Having a link unit above/below actual navigation, and if that is accepted, then what are the rules about the same color?
- Having ads below the title. I know this isn't allowed, but some still do it and get away with it? Also, how much text after the title is ok to then put your advert in?
- Is using the adverts within your content perfectly acceptable? Some even say that this can get you banned (having it indented to the right or something) as it apparently looks like its your own image...
Finally, I have an average of 5% CTR and this scares me as some say this is too high and should be more like 1%-2%. I therefore think I am breaking the rules even though I have read so much to do with adsense rules and stuff.
Any help is appreciated!

I do not see why this would be an issue, even using the same color. As long as you aren't "tricking" people to click on the ads you can color match anywhere on the website.

I can't really comment on this, as I have quite a lot of sites with code right under the title. I've been running them for quite some time without problems.

Some of my wordpress sites automatically place the code into the content, and I haven't had any problems. I've seen quite a lot of websites that do that.
As long as you don't touch the actual code, you should be fine. Although I must admit, there is a fine line between misleading people and matching your code to content/color schemes.

Thanks a lot for the response. I have one link unit under the navigation that is horizontal, which I am concerned about as that is the only slightly misleading one in my opinion so might get rid of it.
But I have on above my sidebar navigation with the same colored links, do you think this is a deceptive as there isnt like an "Advertisements" header?
Finally, what is your average CTR if you don't mind me asking?

Re: Need rules made clear
Someone asked for the layout of my ads that are getting 5% CTR, and thought I would show everyone the layout
Blurred out a lot of it to protect my niche, but its just text where its blurred. Also took out the actual ads that were showing to protect niche.

Re: Need rules made clear
try to make ads differentiable from the content as much as possible
this way you will have more reliable income. otherwise there is always risk and there is no clear rule at adsense
everything vague

Your good to go on your Adsense placement, in fact I think you could be a little more aggressive if you wanted to.
I don't place ads directly under the post title, because it looks like crap and I have found that a cleaner site with well blended ads works better for me. Also, get rid of the border and make sure the ad matches the rest of your site.
As far at your ctr, I have a 12.45% ctr and have averaged around the same for years and have had no issue. If the ads convert for the advertiser (and they will if the traffic is targeted) you are good to go.
