Default Adsense Revenge - Get Yours Here

I see lots of people complaining about their low adsense earnings, so I thought I would share a few things I have discovered over the last few years of earning adsense income. I make fairly decent green from Google and it isn't because they're my buddy.

This is strictly all white hat, so you aren't going to get banned. Your results could be different from mine, but these tips have worked for me. Veterans of the adsense wars may not find anything new here, so I hope you'll contribute some of your tips as well.

    1. Quit allowing cheap clicks. If you are getting lots of one cent and three cent clicks it is time to dust off Google's competitive ad filter. You can find it in your adsense account by clicking on the adsense setup tab.

Once upon a time I had an ad tracking system that let me know what advertisers ads were being clicked on. The way I was tracking my channels I could figure out early in the day how much I was making on each click by advertiser. It didn't take long for me to figure out who was paying the least to me through Google. Unfortunately, to my knowledge, tracking information by specific advertiser is no longer available with any ad tracker.

Finding most of the serious cheapskates is still fairly easy. Just look at your adsense ads and if you see advertisers such as amazon, ebay, target, walmart, expedia, orbitz, etc. then you've probably identified those super cheap clicks. Pretty much any well-known giant company with a gigantic advertising budget will be paying the minimum per click. I once found two clicks from the same large well-known advertiser that paid one cent for both clicks combined. To hell with that.

The cure is to add such companies as priceline.com, target.com, business.com, amazon.com, ebay.com and others to your competitive ad filter. Check your average pay per click before you do this, and then see if your pay per click has gone up after applying the filter. Odds are you will see a moderate to dramatic increase in your average pay per click. Obviously, if your income goes down, remove the advertisers from the filter.

Every month I get a notification from Google that I may be filtering high converting ads. I really don't give a shit and here is why. Let's say for example that if I weren't filtering these cheap ads on my website I would be getting 100 clicks per month instead of 50 on the first ad served. Well, lets do the math. For the website with filtered ads you may be making 20 cents per click, times 50 clicks equals $10 that you earned. Lets then say we don't filter out our parasite advertisers then we earn 3 cents per click times 100 clicks and earn $3. By getting rid of your parasite you earn an extra $7 that you wouldn't have had otherwise. In actual practice, I haven't seen the decrease in total number of clicks that Google would have me believe I would get by allowing these ads, but I have seen a massive increase in earnings. You can test this out for your self. It is legal and Google won't ban you for it.

2, Removing the adsense link units from your web pages is a good way to increase your adsense earnings. Visitors have to click twice before you earn anything. I earn a lot more without link units than I do with them. My click through rate with link units has always been dismal and that has been the experience of many other people as well.

    3. Don't try to hide your adsense ad. Making the ad blend in with the rest of the website doesn't mean trying to hide it as part of the content. Stick a large 336x280 block just under your H1 heading and watch your percentage of clicks go up.

4 Clean up your web page. If you have three adsense blocks, remove all but the one big one at the top. By displaying the maximum number of adsense blocks, link units, and search box on a web page you're pretty much guaranteed to make your visitor perceive your page as spam and they'll click away in a heartbeat. Not only that, but the more ads you display on a page, the less you are likely to earn per click. That is because the highest converting ads are displayed first (be sure to filter out the cheap paying parasite advertisers first) then the cheaper paying ads are displayed.

In other words, the more ads available to click on, the more likely the visitor will click on a cheap paying ad.

    5. If you have lots of flashing banners and other such crap, get rid of it. People just click away, don't convert to a commission, and never come back. If you are making good affiliate commissions, get rid of adsense and get your visitors to click more on your affiliate link.

    6. Sometimes restricting the number of ads in a single block to two or three ads can increase your pay per click. The 250x250 ad will display three ads and the 200x200 ad displays two ads. Although the 336x280 ad generally will have the highest conversion, you may pop your income up by first filtering the advertisers as discussed above, and then displaying no more than two or three ads in one adsense block. This way only the few, highest paying ads are published for your visitors.

Enjoy and add your adsense tips to this thread please.

If I remember correctly what I did was parse the iframe link and pull the advertisers url out then calculated how big each ad link was in width. Then based on that I could tell which ad was clicked on.

Then I'd say okay I made X dollars today with 5 clicks on advertiser 1 and 2 clicks on advertiser 2 and figure out my RPC per advertiser based on that.

If you can write a script that accurately tracks advertisers ads that are clicked you could probably make a small fortune selling it. There are two benefits to being able to track advertiser clicks and revenue.

First you can filter out the low paying advertisers and second, you can find out what your visitors may be interested in buying. If there enough clicks for a specific advertiser then you can find an appropriate affiliate program to promote, or develop your own product if feasible to do so.

That was srzly great tip.. I am getting 100+ clicks per day and adsense pays me too low.. I agree adding rectangular big box under H1 is a excellent way to make good revenue and I have been making good money from that big box..

Apart from that my other ad box are providing me very low cents.. (.01 - .10,as if I am a beggar ) .. Thanks for the competitive thing,I have applied and lets hope the results are quite good..

Any idea abt working ad tracking software existence ; which will help to find the no. of clicks clicked and which advertiser bid is high or something like that ?

I agree with everything whs1978 said, but I also have a very small box with just one ad between the first and second paragraph of my content, this works well.

Also, there is no need to get clever with your site. If you have lots of images and flashing gizmo stuff your site will take longer to load, which will lose visitors. Keep it plain and simple so that your site is fast-loading, and keep your nav menus text-only, Goggle loves these.

Also there is no need to re-invent the wheel. Keep your basic site colours as blue and white so that standard A/S ads will blend in without customizing the colours. People feel comfortable with the standard blue and white ads, people are familiar with them and they sub-consciously believe that the ads are ok to click on because they are generated by a reputable source.

You can utilizee this phenomenon if you are using CB or cpa networks. Get a few offers together and place your affiliate link in an anchor-text block which is designed to look exactly like an A/S block. Take your time and get it right, make it convincing. People will click away because they are comfortable with such ads - try it, it works! - If your traffic is organic I wouldn't advise you to go as far as putting 'ads by goggle' at the bottom of your block, you could upset the mighty G! But you could put 'ads by someothermadeupname' .

Hope you like that chaps, it wasn't intentional, but it's actually my first share.

re-read the original post. i browsed and took out the big companies like he suggested.

so far my eCPM has been the highest ever i've seen today so i'll continue to monitor it and see how it performs.

I always was thinking method 1, but never really did it I have a lot of fu***ing $0.01-0.04 clicks.

Method 2 and 4 sound great.

And don't forget, what is easier? To double your visitors from 500 to 1000? Or to double the clickprize from 0.15 to 0.30?
The difficulty lies not so much in developing new ideas as in escaping from old ones.

Thanks for these tips. Just blocking the cheap clicks I used to have and adding arcarc's list to the competitive ad filter my earnings increased from 0.30 or 0,40$ a day to 2$ the next day. (I know it is very low but...)

Beautiful...more money in your pocket...just as it should be. Percentage wise, that is a huge increase in earnings. Now just pump up your traffic.

great tips man, I implemented some of them yesterday, and my Badsense earnigs tripled overnight, with the same amount of visitors.

Especially the tip for using the BIG ad-box. I'm fairly new to this (about 1 month) and I always wanted not to scare my visitors away with large ads, but hey, the conversion-rate went way up, so I really don't care anymore what my visitors think of the 336x280 ad-box. Most of my traffic comes from SE, which means most of them will visit only once my website, so why not shove those giant ads in their throats?

Yeah, quite right. I've never really understood the alleged wisdom of having high quality content. The higher the quality, the less likely visitors are to click on your Adstench. If your content is dull, vistiors look for something a little more exciting - like your stonking great big box at the top of the page.

A tip for those of you that have problems with the redirection. First you have to put something like this, without the html :// tag

    Code:
    ErrorDocument 404 /mp3.html
When I tried to set the .htaccess file I always got a Internal Server Error. Then I began googling and found the following:

    - There is not possible to redirect to an external page. (I don't know if is really true) But I thought that if I couldn't set the .htaccess file I could just redirect it putting inside the HEAD tag:
    Code:
    <META HTTP-EQUIV=REFRESH CONTENT="5;URL=http://mp3.html">
The problem with this is that Google doesn't like these redirects. I suppose that if you mask it inside a javascript it will work fine.

    - You can set this redirect also in your Cpanel if you can access to it.

My particular case was that I had created a subdomain. I had other htaccess in the root path so to solve the conflict I deleted the root htaccess because I don't need it now.

Maybe I missed it but I've read where it is essential now to have a privacy policy on a site with Adsense with specific verbage.

How many of you guys have requested payment and are getting this?

Thanks for this great post, I don't get much back from Adsense even though I have around 1k visitors on my blog, though I get more then 1 to 4 cents per click.

I get around 40 to 80 cents, though I have seen people get a few dollars, though the more the better since I live in the UK and the pound sucks!

Another thing you could try - are your ads showing images? It's not so bad if the image ad is something people are actually interested in and so click on it, but if the product is not so popular. that's one poorly converting product that is taking up your entire adscents block. You can turn off image ads in your settings, this means your ads return back to the familiar text based ads, and hopefully your earnings rise too.

Heh, I don't use blogs so I wouldn't know. I'm sure that one of the WP gurus can help though.

I've been banned from google to many times. I suggest you concentrate on a keyword for an affiliate and dominate it.

I have uploaded a list of low paying clicks. These should work on most any niche and help improve your earnings. Also, take a look at the ads being served on your site and filter out the .info domains as well as domains like www-apply-for-credit.com. These are notorious for paying almost nothing for clicks.

    Good Luck

adsense injector is a good plugin for wordpress but with the 2.7 update of wordpress you might just do it manualy I think you can find a way of doing it in the comments on the sticky (adsense forum obviously).
