I've got a good niche that I want to build an authority site on. I'm talking about at least 500 pages full of unique articles, sorted by categories and such. I have my articles lined up for this. Since I'll probably be using wordpress, what would be a good theme for this kind of site? I know some of you already do this - I would appreciate it if you could point me to the right direction.

I've heard the CTR Theme is good for Adsense monetization but haven't had much experience with it. On the other hand, I've also heard of people seeing their ranking get demolished after switching to CTR Theme.

I use CTR theme on my micro niche sites (10-20 pages), but I fail to see how this theme can work on a large scale (500+ pages).

Maybe a magazine theme would be helpful since you ave so many articles. That way, users stay on your site longer.

Get a custom theme coded. Make sure the coder follows on page seo standards. Don't use too much graphics (so the site loads faster).

Make sure you settle on your choice on the theme before promoting the site or doing off page SEO because changing the theme after ranking will mostly hurt your rankings.

Just look at the big sites in the industry and find a theme with similar colors and layout.

For example, if it was a medicine theme I would look at WebMD and MedicineNet. Both sites make millions so they have lots of money for testing, and both have ended up with almost identical blue-green color scheme and layout.

Same with sports; sportsillustrated, espn, foxsports: all are dark blue / red with large image on home page.

Hi, thats a good advice, first know what the big companys in your niche use on their sites and then if you can afford it get a custom theme coded, specially if your planning on building an authority site. If not you can look for a theme at themeforest, i think that you can find one in the hundreds that they have that adjusts to your niche.
