I'm currently working on a site for adsnse and the average cpc for my keywords is about $7.

Is that like I earn at least a couple of bucks per click? I aim for high cpc keywords and I know that they're hard to rank, but dó they pay really that much or could it be that I just earn 10 cents per click??

Actually, a cpc of more then $5 indicates that you'll earn around $2.5 per click? Because, if someone clicks on the ads on he pages of your site, you get 50-60% of the cost of that ad for which the advertiser paid.

A cpc may even be more than $50. But that does never mean that when your side broadcats those ads, you will get the highest bidding ads.

It depends on lots of factors including your site's age, pr, authority, publicity and so on. It is the same as real world. the same company is publishing an advertisement on CNN and on a local TV channel of a small town. Maybe they will pay 10M to CNN and 10K to that local channel.

They are the same ads as you see. But having different values. So you are now a local tv channel. You will no get those high bidding keywords. Rather, low cost ads will be published on your site. That is why huge (old, authority) sites gain much more than ordinary people (as usual in real life. Money makes money)
