What is a good (and safe) CTR?
Sorry - I'm a total newbie, but I'm trying to learn lol.
I've been reading a bunch, and the impression I'm getting is that if your CTR is too high that that is bad news for you adsense account? Is that right?
If so - what is a good, but safe, CTR?
I currently have 3 micro-niche sites that I just launched about two months ago. As I'm still learning, I've done just about nothing in terms of link building and generating additional traffic. Only traffic I'm getting right now is thanks to the domain matches.
However, my main site currently has a CTR of 4.72% - 106 impressions and 5 clicks. Is that too high? I'm not too concerned since I know that they have be genuine clicks since I've done nothing else to the site, but I'm curious none the less.
Any feedback would be great!
Thanks in advance!

Re: What is a good (and safe) CTR?
its a good ctr. i think 1-5% ctr is safe. 5-10% is ...almost ok. over 10% its a matter of time untill you will start your thread as " how can I open another adsssensse account?"

Re: What is a good (and safe) CTR?
Yeah i'm usually around 4.0-5.0 ... which i think its against TOS to even discuss your ctr lol..

Re: What is a good (and safe) CTR?
As I said before, ctr is a tricky thing. even your eCPM is calculate per 1000 impressions, (thats what the M stands for) so a "real" ctr you will find at a higher volume of impessions.
your ctr will variate a lot for around 100 visits. you can get a 2% and a 15% very easy, at the same amount of impressions.
but do remember that ctr is calculated on impressions, not on unique ip. and a 10% of impressions, is a higher REAL 30% ctr if your average visitor has 3 page impressions.

Also, which CTR is evaluated? the day-by-day CTR, or the global CTR?
Somedays I can get a CTR of 15%, and my global being 6-7%.

Re: What is a good (and safe) CTR?
I think even if your CTR is high enough but all of them come from Google, you're pretty safe. I could be wrong.

my ctr has averaged 15% the last year and i have had no problems..

Re: What is a good (and safe) CTR?
That's actually a very good CTR in order to stay under the radar and still make a decent profit. I go anywhere between 0.5 to 8-10% with my autoblogs (depending on the niche and theme) and never had an issue in years.

totally wrong - please stop posting misleading shit. as long as you're complying with google's TOS and 90% or more of your traffic is coming from google search engine, you're in the clear.
dont worry.

in that case you want to keep your CTR as low as possible - under 5% would be ideal

I answered the man. I did not "post misleading shit".
In your next post you say the same thing I said. So instead of being a smart-ass try help the man, and not confuse him.
of course you can have 100% ctr and be safe, if you are all good with their TOS. but this is BHW, not the adsense forums, so i presume there's a good reason he asked here.

no hes obviously new and many people are telling things like above 10% ctr and you get banned. If you first read it you believe it. Its the same like google ranks wordpress better than other cms or info domains doesnt rank.

Re: What is a good (and safe) CTR?
As some others said, it depends on your traffic. If your traffic is good, your CTR won't matter. Mine has been between 5-25% every day since I launched my site over 3 years ago and I've never had a problem.
But, if you're driving traffic through BH methods eventually you'll probably get caught.

Re: What is a good (and safe) CTR?
Some of my sites don't have many visitors but very targeted ones so that many of them click the ads as well. So on some sites I have a quite regular CTR of 50% or sometimes even higher. All organic traffic from SE's. So far no problem. I also don't see why there should be a problem as long as the site, traffic and clicks are legit.

well there is only one answer. some times the site, traffic and clicks... are not all legit.

Re: What is a good (and safe) CTR?
It doesn't really matter by itself. What matters is where those clicks are coming from, and if they appear to be manipulated somehow, then that would raise a red flag. However, as others have said, if they come from G, then you should be okay - that would look organic.

Re: What is a good (and safe) CTR?
What a load of crap. You can have CTR as high as you like, as long as you are not breaking Googles TOS.

I think you're right, I have had ctr of over 25% for over 1 year and had no problems with it. But now I'm at around 12,5% or even less.
Don't you worry about a thing
-
-
Re: What is a good (and safe) CTR?
There is nothing like 25% ctr is bad and 5% ctr is good until you try something blackhat. If you are having organic visitors , there is nothing to worry about. Anyhow in majority of cases your ctr will be less than 10% if you have organic visitors.

Re: What is a good (and safe) CTR?
Awesome, lots of good info here everyone.
Thanks for clarifying!

Re: What is a good (and safe) CTR?
Yeah, actually I wouldn't listen to the people that say anything over whatever is bad... heh. I've had 30%+ for years. Actually anything less than that was horrible.

Re: What is a good (and safe) CTR?
What use you free wordpress theme and have you 10% CTR or more?
-
-
Re: What is a good (and safe) CTR?
Yeah it doesn't matter how high your CTR goes. In fact the higher the better. If you're getting anything lower than 10% CTR you need to get cracking.

do you really think OP would care his ctr if all he was doing is legit?

Everything I've done so far is legit, as I said - I've done no link building at all. The reason I'm getting any visitors is because of the domain name(s)..
As I said - I was just curious because I've seen a lot of debate about it, and before I started doing anything - I wanted to know what I should be aware of.
