What is the difference between a micro niche site, a mini site and an auto blog site?
Hi guys,
As usual, I've been spending hours and hours a day here on BHW researching some ideas that users are posting. I am looking at getting into auto blogs shortly, but I have a few questions.
I have read a lot of threads, and all of them at some point or another refer to a "micro niche site" or a "mini site" or a "auto blog site".
My understanding so far:
- Micro niche site: This is a site you make, that has a couple of pages such as 5-10 pages / posts and then you leave it for the long term, and let it slowly make some money?
- Auto blog site: This you set up to copy/spin/paste new content to your blog via plugins for Wordpress to keep your website fresh, updated and this is pretty much all automated. Stick ads on it to make $$?
- Mini site: This one I really don't know :S
I am reading a lot about Google's implementation of the "mayday" and all xfactor type sites going down. But are auto blogs also going down? Are they just as 'unsafe' as these 'micro niche sites', and which tend to earn more, micro niche sites or auto blogs (provided content was good)
I hope someone can help me out with my understanding of these sites!

Re: What is the difference between a micro niche site, a mini site and an auto blog site?
Micro niche can be a mini site, but it doesn't have to be. You can make a site with hundreds or thousands of pages if you want to target lots of keywords for rankings. The term micro niche just means something more targeted and micro within a major niche. Left-handed golf clubs with def leppard stickers instead of just golf clubs. If you can somehow manage to produce a few thousands pages about left-handed golf clubs with def leppard stickers.
Auto blog is basically what you post. Typically, people will drive traffic to them with social media methods, but you could do seo too. However, people tend to use auto blogs for things like amazon sales, not regular ads like adsense. That way if you're using a social media tool to bring in specific traffic they will have a way to purchase exactly what they are looking for.

Thanks for that, makes it a little more clearer. So micro sites are just a 'small part' of a bigger niche - makes sense.
But how can people make money from them via adsense if they just create it and move on to the next one? From what I have read, people make the micro niche sites, leave them and then go on to make more and more - and end up with a lot of micro niche sites. And it seems they don't do any promoting - so how do they get the organic traffic to actually make anything from them?
Also, isn't an auto blog very similar (or could be similar) to a micro niche site? I mean, couldn't I just get the auto blog to post articles/comments on a 'micro' part of a bigger niche? And then it is basically a 'micro niche site' but not, because it is not just 5 articles and then left alone, rather is it constantly updated? (Wouldn't this also solve the issue of getting adsense banned?)

Re: What is the difference between a micro niche site, a mini site and an auto blog site?
There are two methods along these lines. You can make a lot of sites that are small and target a few keywords. You could also make a few sites that are large and target more keywords within a niche. If you can only find a few decent keywords about one niche then a small site is fine. If you think you can get dozens of keywords then a large site can work if you supply sufficient content.
The amount of promoting a site needs truly depends on the keyword. If the competition is extremely low and you get exact name domain along with just a little seo work then it could very well plop itself in the #1 spot very quickly. Keywords this easy usually means only a handful of visitors a day. People tackle these types of keywords and get maybe a dollar or two a day out of them with adsense. So yeah hundreds of sites could make you thousands per month.
An auto blog can be a micro niche site. It would end up being a huge site in terms of content and pages. Micro niche just means a more specific term or item within a larger niche. Micro site would be a small site of a few pages. So a site that is micro niche can be huge.
