Someone was placing their ADSENSE Ads on my Site!!!
I am hear to tell you guys about something I just realized recently, becareful of what plug in you use for your sites.
If the plug in ask for donations and percentage by adding their ad to your site while making their ad invisible to you they will steal plenty of clicks from your wordpress site.
I had over 35k in visitor impressions for the past few days and I realize I wasnt being smart priced but something was strange.
I only had 15 clicks as opposed to the hundreds of clicks I was getting with high traffic.
I changed my wordpress theme and took off the ads from my adsense plug ins I uploaded from wordpress and guess what?
I saw that the makers of the plug ins put their ads and ID on my site, this is where most of my clicks were mysteriously going to.
I didnt click the donate button either.

Re: Someone was placing their ADSENSE Ads on my Site!!!
yeah, that's something to be aware of anytime u get somebody else's adsense plugin, or even if u get an html or css template with adsense on it, from someone else. always check the adsense code to make sure it is yours!
even if u install a wp adsense plugin and don't activate your own adsense id, ads will still show up (crediting to someone else). This happened on one of my blogs. SOmehow over time my own adsense info got wiped off the blog and it defaulted back to the original. i knew something wasnt right when i knew i was getting site visits but there was no record of views in my adsense account.

Ya man that is sneaky and low, do you have to delete all the themes that you uploaded to even though they are not active? I heard also that they can ad a cookie to your computer so even if you delete their plug in or template they can still put their ads on your site.
that is why when you make enough money get a custom made wordpress and pay for it like an investment better safe than sorry.
I am trying to look for legit premium wordpresses not these free ones asking for donations or hiding their ads in your site.

Re: Someone was placing their ADSENSE Ads on my Site!!!
easy adsense or easy adsense redux? Just curious, I had the same experience as you when using either of those plugins....I think it's kinda scummy, kinda like the publisher of wp-robot putting in his own affiliate and link backs in his "free" version without telling you he's doing that....

Re: Someone was placing their ADSENSE Ads on my Site!!!
The exact reason to why I don't use plugins to manage my advert placements, I use good old manual editing, works like a treat and I'm not limited to what the plug-in allows me to do.

Also some theme developers and plugin developers will put in their amazon and clickbank ID's. Sometime as the default but in others they can be a bit more sneaky.

Yeah Easy Adsense - first versions were great, as soon as he got a big following with the plug in he "automatically" added a 5% of the ads were his option.
The option was already activated. Make sure if you use it, you change it to zero.
He also has a button to add a link to his site.
I uncheck it - only because he was a douche by trying to fool people into sharing adspace.

Re: Someone was placing their ADSENSE Ads on my Site!!!
So does the heatmap theme actually record and show where the clicks are happening, or is that just the name of the theme?

Re: Someone was placing their ADSENSE Ads on my Site!!!
I make seperate ad units and make channels for where they are and the name of the site so I know where they are happening...
But no it has nothing to do with the Heatmap plugin for WP its just the name. Its supposed to be UBER optimized for SEO, its clean and easy to add ads3nse to I know that for sure at least so far.

Time to go create and distribute some free adsense plugins.
Hit this from the other side.

Re: Someone was placing their ADSENSE Ads on my Site!!!
Lets say your using a theme that has a premade adsense layout around your blog, and all you have to do before installing it is enter your publisher ID... Is there a way to add a channel to that so when your looking at your adsense account you can see which blogs had the impressions/clicks?

it's just a theme placing ads on the hotspots of the layout's heatmap
Code:
http://heatmaptheme.com/

If you notice someone else's adsense code on your site then temporarily convert your site to gambling/porn to get their account banned - hehehe

Hehehe... I will only do that only if the plugin owner did not explain/clarify/stress to replace the adsense ID with your own

Re: Someone was placing their ADSENSE Ads on my Site!!!
how do these people not get their ad-sense banned? I would think that some of the people that are adding these plugins don't know all the rules and might be doing something against google TOS, and an ad from the plugin owner would show up on a site in violation.

Re: Someone was placing their ADSENSE Ads on my Site!!!
I think when such guy simply stole money that way from me I would set up a domain with private whois add his adsense and let clickerz or something run over it. Maybe make a bot that autoclicks with a lot of proxies...
Hes not clever, hes stealing so I see no mercy...
By the way... if you are afraid that someone places your ad on a pornsite to damage you set up your adsense that it only is used on the sites you specify. If it appears at other places the impressions arent counted and no clicks are counted. I think this way you even could set up a honeypot for bad persons that want to hurt you.

Re: Someone was placing their ADSENSE Ads on my Site!!!
Yes the same thing happened to me.
I noticed that it was the same ads showing on all my pages not relating to the subject of the post at all.
So I deactivated the AdSense for one week, used a different format, and it was OK after that.

Re: Someone was placing their ADSENSE Ads on my Site!!!
On one occasion I found the easy adsense plugin had somehow reverted to donating 5% of my ad space a couple of days after I had set it to 0% and then used the auto update function.
Following that, I reverted to manually inserting ads, it doesn't take long with notepad copy pasting, even across hundreds of sites.
