This should seem pretty obvious to most Jr VIPS, but for most of the people NEW to a forum, I've got a great little trick for you.

The thanks button is a way for people to say "thank you" to someone for posting something valuable and helpful. Not only does this give "rep" to the poster but it also archives all of their truly beneficial posts.

Where is this archive kept? In each persons "profile". Just hit statistics, and click "Find all thanked posts by [ username ]"

If you're stuck, confused, bored, frustrated or just wanna research a member, thats the best way to find quality posts fast!

'...Good tip kayzne, but I would hate to see people ONLY doing this in the belief they were 'cutting to the good stuff'.

There are some gems in many posts that go unthanked.

I realise not everyone reads all posts as this can take time, but I usually open every post, 'because you never know'.

Still think yours is a good tip though'.

I use it for my own archive too. I can go to my profile, click to view threads that I have thanked and find a thread that I am looking for faster.

I agree, and I like to try and view information as much as possible, but getting to page 10 and reading every post.

....i sweat.

This makes a lot of sense especially for newbies who would rather post something instead of hitting the search button. I lurked and absorbed for a long time before I posted anything and the Thanks button helps a lot.

I like to look up some of the most respected VIP's and just search their posts. you will find a lot of good info coming from EXEC VIP's!

I use Snagit to capture screenshots of regions, windows or whole screens of posts, topics or anything else. I've got a few posts that I captured that are now hidden on this forum away from yellowies like us.

Why don't you just view the post as a Print version and save it in HTML form?

i think jr vips and ex vips threads do not appear there... and that s the place where the most quality threads exist.

Do not appear where?

I know that the private forums are not accessible by non-VIP members and therefore those posts will not show up, but within the main forums that shouldn't be an issue.

Great tip for a newcomer like myself. I guess common sense and logic comes into play here.

I also check the users online at the moment on the front page, and click the white and blue names and check the topics they created.

It's great when you don't know many names or to find those guys that don't post much.
