Hello To All,

I have shifted my work profile from Designer to SEO. My current project is a Discount and Coupon site. The site displays discount deals and discount codes for US and Canada.

Now how to get traffic to this site. I have implemented all the On-page optimization.

Any other suggestion?

Cheers,
SEONiraj

what do you mean?you say its seo,so you got to start with the offsite seo as you say onsite seo has been done.look our for some link sources. There are lot of threads in BHW on that.

I too started a coupon website with wordpress in it.Which themes are you using?Do you have any good coupon script?

Really hard niche to break into, there are so many couponing sites.
Allow companies to be able post their own coupons, it was always hard for me to post coupons because it's a pain to sign up for those sites, and your coupons wouldnt always get approved.
Once you have some worthwhile coupons, twitter them or send them through social media sites.
Try to find the products people are most often searching google for like 'theme park coupons' then tailor pages to those kinds of products.

Sadly, the coupon niche is horribly overpopulated.

If you want to succeed, you cant just throw up a blog and hope you get some traffic.

You have to really offer value to your visitors, better coupons, rarer coupons, more coupons, which is impossible to do since most of these coupon sites scrape from each other anyway.

I am not saying give up, but it will be a lot of work and it will take a long time.

Start by getting traffic through long tail keywords, like "coupons for cheap designer shirts" or the like.

I have operated successfully in this niche.

It's extremely difficult, only try it if you have experience and resources (time and/or money).

niche female community sites, such as a couple communities on cooking, are good places to get seen for coupon promotion.

Coupon sites have always been interested to me. How does someone start one? Where do you get the coupons from? Obviously, there is some automated way to do this.

And yes, I can believe it is very saturated but there is no way EVERY niche is saturated. Heck, just go to eBays categories for something like 27,000 niches. Not ever one is a candidate for coupons. Let's say only 10,000 are (not counting sub-niches off the main ones). Can anyone say ALL 10K are saturated?? I doubt it. :)

I am still interested in hearing the best way to start a coupon site if anyone is willing to share.

I would say focus on long tails for keywords like "godaddy discount codes 2010 december". Believe me it would get u much traffic than you can imagine. By the way i too own one and receive 80% of traffic from long tails

I have a successful voucher code site. i dont think they are over saturated at all. a good way to get traffic is through facebook, twitter and local business.

cold call local businesses telling them u have many vouchers for their staff, would they like to join your mailing list? then just create a few emails and send.

I think youtube could be of some help here :)
Just make a couple of quality videos and upload to YT. Promote, promote, promote.
Thats it ;)

Best,
BK.

You better start up with small niche,i recently started a new site in coupons niche,i think its very competitive as more authority websites are already in the top place in serps.Coupon codes and discounts(Affilitive links) are available in CJ for almost all popular ecommerce websites.
