i only just found out g***les ad*sbt follows regardless to judge the quality of sites i'm referring shoppers to. so be sure to duplicate the ads*bot nofollows in your robots.txt otherwise your linking to them.

It has always been my understanding that at least in Google's eyes NoFollow refers to linking to an untrusted source. Thus the link is followed, perhaps even spidered, and anchor text probably analyzed.
What doesn't happen is the transmission of Trust, Authority, or
PR; NoFollow simply flags the link as doubtful. It evolved due to Google's emphasis on the concept of creating "Good Neighborhoods."
