A NEW logo for BHW

Hi everyone,

I was thinking of a new logo for BHW. Here's what I've created.

I know the logo has already been changed, but I really think this awesome site deserves a much better logo design.

So tell me what you think :smoker:

i just like how your hats are not black in either logos

But nice effort.

But sadly i agree that current logo does the job
 
yeah I was designing it outside with the sun on the screen, so didn't see that well.
But now I see what you mean, the layers are too big, they go beyond the text.
Also, although I think the current BHW logo could be better, I agree it has the advantage of being more shiny, kind of a golden effect.
 
It's a decent design but to me it looks a little to amateur and the current looks a lot better, don't stop practising but I wouldn't recommend yours over the current
 
well actually the current logo is a bullshit... a jr graphic designer never do like the curent logo... however I guess the logo not important for this site... the most important is the usability and the information
 
Thanks a lot for your initiative. I agree that the current one can be improved - it's too predictable.

Care to share what you think is so wrong with the logo?
 
You know... just for fun, this website should have a logo contest... use the polls for votes and after everyone submits their entry the voting starts...

Nice way for people to showcase their skills and the admins don't really need to change it if they don't like it.

just ask a professional designer... But I guess the first what he will say is the next: a typography is horrible, old photoshop technics, and the earth is just part of a picture from somewhere and not a unique conception and the star effects on the world ... but I'm not a proffessional designer:)
 
Okay... this is just to replace my previous works, because I have to admit they were basic.

Of course it's just an example, basic too, (no special effect, the font could be much more improved, the colors too) but it's just a basic to something who could evolve and be awesome.

Now I'll stop, and let the real designers think about it (cause i'm definitely not one as you have seen :D ), but I think it could be a good idea.

Also it's true that for a forum related to IM the design shouldn't be that important, but it's also true IMO that it softens the eye when you see a nice logo at the top left corner...:rolleyes: It makes me want to come again

I agree about the typography I see three fonts which is too many, but the age of a technique is irrelevant if it works well it should be used. The image of the earth doesn't look original to me but I haven't seen it elsewhere.

This "Ask a professional Designer" is a little silly in my opinion, because though there are universal trends in design, in the end it comes down to personal preference and opinion.

Some designers love the font Helvetica others hate it, In the this case it's your opinion that the logo is "bullshit" I don't think it's the best but I think on the site it looks good. It could be improved but I don't think it's horrible.

ok we can talk many hours about this stupid logo.. but when I say just ask a professional designer it's mean really ask somebody he will say this logo is bullshit... and when I say ask a professional designer it mean who really good... as I said the typography is horrible and if the typo is horrible it's bullshit..this is the basic... it's easy as 1 2 3 and we don'T have to talk about the stupid star effect and stupid mirroring effect... but if you can't see these things ... ask a professional designer who can explain these things better... because I'm not a designer
