Ebay Frustration

I am trying to break into the ebay biz, and I'm finding it a bit frustrating.

I found a product that looks like it is selling well and there is currently only one person offering the product.

My big issue is, I can take the risk of listing an item, and then having it drop shipped. But because i've never done it before, I would feel safer just selling 1 unit. However, the price of 1 unit makes my profit almost nonexistent. If I post ten auctions and then drop ship 10 units, I could make between $100 and $150 dollars - but only if all ten auctions sell.

I have a fear that only like 5 of the 10 units will sell, and then I will lose money because I can't purchase in a lot large enough to get a good price. And I don't have a reserve of cash to fall back on. Or, 8 of the 10 will sell, and then I may not have enough money to purchase a lot of 10 and I am royally screwed.

Any body else ever gone through this? Part of me wants to just list 1 item even if I lose money to see if I can make it work.

I know this was a bit of a rant, but I can see that other people who are trying to break into ebay could be having the same frustration.

I used to make some money selling my ebook. After some months, I was listing so many items a day even tough I was not selling most of them. You are going to sell a lot the first months. Do not worry. You have to know some techniques to sell more on ebay.(try craigslist, I think that it is easier to sell)

One thing you need to remember with auctions is that you can make second chance offers to unsuccessful bidders.

However, it's all about supply and demand. If you simultaneously list 10 of the same item, then you are just going to drive your selling price down. Best auction one item at a time to be honest although you will then need 10 profitable bids to make it worth your while.

40% was typically my selling ratio for auction items.

Egay is something you have to be persistent about. Build feedback and avoid flooding your market to keep the prices high.
