The advantage of a VPS over dedicated is that it's much easier to manage and backup. CPanel is available under a VPS license that's much cheaper than a dedicated server, if you use it.
If you don't know a lot about managing a server a managed VPS is the way to go.

I agree with you, i have a vpslink and so far its been great. well worth the price.
