Just looking at some aged domains for my next project, whats your thoughts on buying an old domain with PR2+

is it worth it, a little extra boost?

Domains are like wine, they get better with time.

Might be worth it - lot of backlinks? Is the PR real?

Another factor is if it's been abused in the past, it takes quite a bit of time to rehabilitate a name. As one example, I have had one name for over two years that used to be a porn name, I've used it for a couple non-porn topics since I got it, and a lot of other sites still think it's a porn site. I may just have to give in and start serving midget porn on it.

If the name fits your project and has some positive history, definitely ++.

Be careful you may get yourself a domain that got banned by adsense, if it was used to host chines content be extra careful

I found a nice domain, 9yo PR4.
I checked with a couple of online tools to verify PR, its real and not banned in google.
Price is $175, good price?

IMO - That's not bad for the age and valid PR4.

I think thats a pretty good deal. Can I please ask where you are finding aged domains? Thanks

how you determine the history of domain? i am also looking to buy some aged domains,,never bought before..so i m unclear of what precautions to be taken, how and how to determine the price of domain?

how you determine the history of domain?

seomastering dot com, domain age test tool, it test with web.archive dot org

Before you buy it, make sure it isn't banned by google by doing this: site:yourdomain.com

If it's not in googles index, it's very possible that it has been banned for some reason and such domain is hard to get back into index.

i already checked it, its not banned

domaintools dot com has some pretty good reporting about a name's history

archive dot org is your friend when you want to see what a site used to look like

xinureturns dot com used to be a good analysis site but has been flaky the last couple days for me any way; maybe it's just temporary glitches

and what some others have said in this thread, especially about making it sure it's not been an abused name - I honestly don't know how long some services hold a grudge against certain names....
