Do you work in a sales department?

Is it rewarding?

Tell me your experience with it :)

The sales position is the highest stressed, but not always well-paid position.
Engineers, Owners, and Vendors think they make it all happen, but the entire
shit show only works if people pay for it.

Take a restaurant.

Good chef, knowledgeable owner, and shit front of the house means empty restaurant.
All of them need to be in harmony, but the CMO really makes the other positions even possible.

CTOs and techs are the most arrogant. Most have 0 creativity and think they're the pillar holding it all up.

Sort of work in sales... well actually work hard at sales on a few different levels.

Been at that on one level or 40 other levels for the past 50+ years.

It is not only rewarding but so cool to see someone buy and walk away satisfied.

I don't mind sales but when you are good at marketing your sales come to you. So marketing makes it 98% easier that's for sure

Thanks for the replies guys.

In the company I work for, we just started doing webinars 3 months ago, and it's of course ONLY the sales guys which are doing it.

We can clearly see the difference between these guys and us in the marketing when it comes to presenting things.

If any of you has a webinar funnel, just make sure to hire a sales guy, they rocks and are not given enough credit most of the time.

Sales is a hard job, be it on the phone, webinar or in real.

I agree with you @BassTrackerBoats that it is the most rewarding thing to see when your customer thank you endlessly and go out of the shop or end the call with a smile! :)

Sales is not about what you get but what you give... too many people miss that and that is why we have used car salesmen running amuck.

Yes and it's all about the benefit for the customer, not the freaking product...

Most salesmen love to speak about features, the nice colours of the product and stuff to show how cool the product is...but at the end, it's all about what beneficial value your customer get.

Customers don't buy a drill, they buy holes.

Iv been in sales my entire life pretty much
Marketing and sales go hand in hand its
Like asking whats more important seo or monetization

I asked which do you prefer, not what is the most important.

You have mistaken, the question is like asking do you prefer SEO or PPC?

Some people prefer one or the other.

Of course they are both important but you can choose to specialise in one over the other.

I've had good teachers and started in sales very young, it was an incredible kickstart compared to my peers and was earning somewhat 2X - 4X what they did. I scaled and hired people, was earning 6X than my country average. I loved it. I loved the money, the satisfaction, the adrenalin rush when I closed another deal but after a while ... I found myself working 14/6. I was missing my life, my friends, freedom.

If you are young, got energy and no money, i would always recommend sales. You will learn a lot about yourself, your goals and your work ethic. If you have some cash in your pocket, learn marketing - it's kinda boring compared to sales, but if you come closer to master your niche, you can make a shit ton of money which is not comparable to sales. Also you can use company structuring to limit your tax burden.
