I know that fair use is determined by court and when you use other footage, you will get strike or match copyright content. Even if you write something like "under fair use protection or Content featured: other channel link" in the description.
But, I've found an interesting case: People Vs Food channel. It is a sub channel and belongs to REACT channel just like FBE, Try not to.
Link to their latest video :
They are a big media company I guess.
BTW, the latest video I just posted. They use Rick and Morty footage, and credit in their description like " Content featured: other channel link". The problem is some of the channels belong to individuals and some big channels are verified.
I've seen a lot of their videos. They usually use 20, 30, 45, 50 seconds of other footage on a smaller screen. Normally, if you use that much time, you will get match copyright content or even demonetize for sure. But they still grow and make money from youtube.
I don't think they have permission from the publisher, because they've used a lot of anime footage too and to get permission from them each video is impossible.
I think they are doing a really good job on fair use.
Overall, to use other footage I think you have to appear on your video as much as you can, use video under 60 seconds (maybe, because I think it's the best when it is under 5 or 6 seconds), Edit that footage smaller and bring it to the corner of your video.
What do you guys think about this case? Do they really get permission to do so or they belong to a big network that allow them to do it?
Note: I know that we shouldn't use other footage, so it's not helping when you say that again .
