Social media became extremely toxic

Already deleted the Facebook, Twitter, Reddit apps from my phone last year when all the fearmongering started, but since I want to place ads there I started logging in again and check some stuff.

Its like Facebook and especially Twitter is full of toxic people and controversy. You can literally just write a normal reply and some troll, fake accounts or whatever it is will come along and attack you or post some bullshit with the weirdest possible things

Seems like the social network became an anti-social network and Twitter is all about who is right or wrong.

Imagine being an organization, politician, journalist, etc. and being confronted with all those messages and comments all the time

Time to delete those apps again

Most of them being terrible for years normally that's a big reason so many competitors of Facebook exist now such as I knew about one guy who grow his social media to site to 100,000 traffic just from people who hate Facebook.

TikTok is probably the worst when it comes to attention-grabbing idiots.

...like TikTok is probably the best example of what people are willing to do to get views, followers, etc. I have been working with TikTok in Thailand you can't imagine what people are uploading...throwing animals from buildings, setting them on fire, beating up random people on the street to see their reaction, amateur porn and voyeur videos, some people would films others how they take a shit and think it would be funny. It is absolutely the worst and most degenerating stuff on the internet.

Which is what drives social media.

If you write something neutral and logical, you get zero engagement.

Thus in order to gain likes and shares, you need to be controversial, aggressive and overall toxic like you said.

Some of the newer members are bringing that shit over too. Antivaxxers are a good example.

Also keep in mind there are brigades of paid accounts whose mission is to shut up any disagreement. So in topics like vaccines, you'll get replies from obvious trolls.

Overall most the damage we see in modern society came from social media. I feel sorry for this new generation.

My young ones don't go anywhere near social media. It's insane.

Stick to people you know RL and specialized groups and you`ll be fine in FB. Twitter is kinda pointless, except for trolling obviously :D

No kidding, I have seen it all. You can't imagine what people are willing to do to go viral...which makes it even sicker is that mostly children are doing this cruel stuff. Some people were arguing with me talking to me about crypto scams, etc. on TikTok....this crap is the least problem they have.

We live in the fucked up generation era where if you everyone seems to seek validation, it disgusts me

It disgusts me even more that it seems that people will do everything for money these days.
These creatures have no self respect in life
 
The trolls are normal for anything; but you can also feel the envy of most people and the addictive schadenfreude. reminds me of that southpark ep about trolls.

covid was a booster shot for social media. with some of them unlocking ecomm tools for more region like they want to climax dropshippers. Your typical attention grabbing users are either posting political/controversial content or nudes. But during covid i've witnessed the saturation of 3 niches in my region: fitness guru, cooking, teaching english while they slowly lean to either direction from above (pol or strip). original content is buried in public explorer. My personal experience: Unless you are selling fmcg; social media is tiresome; i've started to tell prospects about sm what I used to tell them about newspapers, billboards, and lampposts.
 
BHW is the only social media I actually care about after I discovered it,Perfect Place to hangout and actually make something big in life instead of any Controversy or Comparison Shit that social media puts in your Brain:)

I saw it 20 years ago. And my parents have seen this type of stuff 50 years ago. Nothing has changed. It's just that we have more media.

This is the perfect answer. Controversy and negativity get more traction, more people in the coming generation are now becoming eligible to be news reporters.

I would agree in the past I worked with a newspaper company short term I wanted to put a good or happy story they told me this for why not"No one will buy if it sounds to good try and make everything sound as bad as possible for this story to sell well"
