I am a programmer & looking to setup a website/app/method that can make me $1k per month, not expecting immediate returns, but atleast some positive signals in a week, and then $1k/mo in 6-12months

I feel everything is too crowded and I can't get a position in the market

Whatever idea/market I think of, there's already someone else doing it already

How do I go about this?

I have an SAAS idea, I'll tell you about it in PM

i'm interested on this too, i'm at the same point, following

It doesn't matter if someone else is doing it already. You can do it too. Try either marketing to people who do not use your competitors' services or try do things a bit better or cheaper.

99% of businesses are not original but still make money.

If you have any idea and want to collab , DM me :)

Most of the times you will have to come with something better and market it better than your competition.
This implies better SEO, social media if it fits or paid ads if you have the budget.

Sure, it can be easy if you come up with something new and people realize they really need it. But, let's face it. This is rare.

Also, you might want to try other regions/countries where there isn't a website in that language. Sometimes you might be just on time to profit from markets that are just starting to develop.

Take for example pcpartpicker. Few years ago you could've got easily in most countries with a similar site. Some did. Most did a bad job. At least in my country they are bogus or they simply don't work. So, take into account that even for things already available there might be markets that aren't yet developed and you could be there first. You will need a bit of translation and some help with setting things up, but it can be a good road.

So no matter what: research, research, research.

You might try looking at some journey threads and see what people report being able to accomplish within certain timelines and attempt to emulate and improve upon their methods. Good luck.

Usually nowadays it's not about the idea but how you can already make an already established business a little bit better and then market it more aggresively.
