Hello,

I read a lot of articles and reviews about VPNs and chose Express VPN and paid for a year

When I went to use it, with a New York IP address, my Instagram and gmail blocked me immediately and I can't get them back, so I didn't try it with any of my other accounts. I did try to open a new Netflix account just to see if that would also be a problem (not trying to log in to my existing account), and the same thing happened, they said it was "irregular action" and they were blocking my signing up. My cookies etc. were all cleared before I used the VPN

The reviews I read said Express VPN had the best customer support of all the VPNs, so I asked their support why this happened and what to do, and all they said was, "use less well-known web sites"

So what good is a VPN if I can't use it on Instagram or Facebook or Twitter or eBay or whatever? Those are the sites people use. What is a VPN for if not that?

Thanx

Mae

I use VPNs for the following
- When i browse and search for stuff i explicitly dont wanna be traced back to me for
- sometimes bombarding google/bing with lots of shit and scraping data (but thats with proxies)
- Downloading things & torrents, lots of torrents yay split tunnelling :D
that's it really lol
as for normal browsing via social media, i dont really use it

Never tried Express VPN, but i did renew my PIA VPN this year, & i never had any issues on my social media accounts on them either in the past. (Never tried Email tho)

try residential 4g it should work better in terms of you using that ip to registered and operate.

VPN's IP is prolly being used for BH activity/spam and got flagged. Try with proxies.

it is going to be practically impossible to sign-up for new accounts on FB, Instagram, Netflix using VPN and proxies these days.

if you are stock and still need to use VPN to access the sign up process, use teamviewer to login to a friends computer who does not need VPN, complete your signup from a real IP address and then you should be fine.

Try with 4G mobile proxies. I stopped using VPNs when i tried these mobile proxies.

The vpn use datacenter IPs for speed, datacenter IPs are easily mark and blocked...
So, find a fresh datacenter proxy (private proxy), or residential proxy (but speed is slow)

Most popular vpns like express, hma, nord, pure, etc. are popular and all their IPs have been abused and banned on common sites like social media.

If you're going to pay - you're better off setting up your own on AWS or a cheap VPS ($5 + $10 for a clean dedicated IP) that way it's more likely to not have been abused. A lot of people will tell you to use 4g proxies - you can do that as well, but they tend to be expensive or spotty in terms of availability.

VPNs are a scam, if you want to try to make accounts or use them for any type of social media yo need residential or mobile proxies

With these commercial VPN services the ips are not dedicated, they're shared between a lot of users, hence abused to hell. It doesn't matter whether it's a VPN or a proxy, with proxies you can have similar results, if the ips are blacklisted and you didn't pay attention, when you purchased them.
These VPNs can still have their use in unblocking sites for instance, if a network/ISP/country blocks sites, just don't use them for account creation. You can still access most of the sites with these VPNs, you just can't create accounts.

You can purchase dedicated VPNs, alrhough it wouldn't make too much sense, because those are fairly expensive. Why would you use a VPN for this purpose at all? You don't need to encrypt your traffic. Instead you can just buy residential proxies or dedicated datacenter proxies can be good too, if they aren't blacklisted. If you aren't sure, always ask the provider before committing to purchase, if a certain proxy is good for your purpose or not.

Does it even matter to use it when Tor Browsing because if someone has the ability to trace you back (FBI-Tier/DEA-Tier/CIA-Tier JFL) then they should easily be able to uncover you behind the VPN no?

As long as the provider is true to the No logs, it's much harder for them to find.
Assuming you haven't leaked anywhere etc

Thank you everyone

Well this is very interesting information. The way the VPNs are advertised, you just have them "on" when you start up your computer, in which case it would make sense to expect they would work anywhere you would normally browse

And again, they promote your privacy being protected "everywhere," no logging, based in British Virgin Islands etc., and they even say the reason to use a paid VPN is because the free ones have been overused and blocked, as you say is the issue I'm facing now with the paid one

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it

4g proxies are the best for social media platform, you can make yours

if you are only surfing , 4g , residential .... are really expensive
for surfing (and only surfing) go with purevps + dedicated IP , nworked fine for me , if their dedicated ip is not working for you for any reason contact them and they will replace it (their support is not bad).
Those VPN providers are overselling their services , just look at their promotions on black Friday or new year ... thats why most of the website will not work with them , so just get a dedicated ip with them , it will be cheaper and will work fine

So VPNs are useful for simple tasks like using an app or website that is banned in someone's country or cloaking your IP if you're visitng risky sites. When it comes to really serious stuff like your social media accounts or emails, 4g mobile proxies are the better option, one of the prinicpal reasons being IG and FB's recent algorithm updates re: activities. Even the slightest of change can qualify as a suspicious activity resulting in account suspension, so better be safe than sorry.

Ugh. VPN IPs usually come from datacenter, proxy IPs can come from a number of sources. If it's a residential proxy, let alone unabused one - you're usually in the clear no matter what you do. This IP is indistinguishable from a real one (it hides the fact that you're using a proxy, unlike a VPN).
