Nope, I don't blog for profit because I can make significantly more money doing what I do now. The CTR for advertising on most blogs is abysmal. Seriously, ask anyone who runs a major blog. Repeat visitors rarely click ads and that is how a lot of those blogs get the traffic that they get.

I'm not saying it can't be done, but there are better ways to make money. Anyway, the competition is about as high right now as it is ever going to be. Eventually people will realize that to make money you're much better off selling some kind of product or service, not waiting for random clicks.

I've got a blog that got over a million hits last year after 2 separate articles hit front page of Digg and Reddit and even got mentioned on a Fox News blog. I get between 500-1,000 UV's a day from random queries. Went from nothing to PR4 in a matter of weeks. It wasn't monetized then and it isn't monetized now. I write it for fun and because I enjoy analyzing how traffic flows.
